Profile
Johannes Myburgh is another cricketer that has been lost from the South African system, but instead of the common path to England he has opted for New Zealand as his career option. He has been earmarked to take the place of recently retired Nathan Astle at the top of the Canterbury order after limited opportunities for the Titans. He was a batting prodigy at school in Pretoria and broke Graeme Pollock's record for the youngest scorer of a double century in South African first-class cricket as a 17-year-old in 1997-98. He holds a strong average of 41.77, is an occasional off-spinner and a good fielder. Cricinfo staff July 2007
